Rather like Alaska is to the rest of the US, Donegal is just about as Irish as it wants to be and for the most part is just far enough away to feel like it’s just that little bit exotic. Everyone who lives in the county has an accent that sounds like they are singing a song when ever they speak. The mountain roads are epic as is the scenery and the food is brilliant.

Mount Errigal Hotel

This upmarket hotel is 3.6 km from Letterkenny Golf Club and a 10-minute walk from Arena 7 Entertainment Complex.

Unfussy rooms offer flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi, plus tea and coffeemaking facilities. Upgraded rooms add minifridges, while suites feature whirlpool baths and separate sitting areas.

Overnight accommodation on a B&B basis at the Pilo Hotel, Ashbourne.

Wednesday September 9th

09.30hrs Depart hotel heading for Letterkenny, Co. Donegal via Armagh and the Sperrin Mountains.

Mount Errigal Hotel, x 2 nights – dinner included tonight.

Thursday September 10th

09.00hrs Depart the hotel – today we explore Malin Head, taking in some spectacular scenery on the Northern Most tip of Ireland. Highlights will include, the Mamore Gap, Glenevin Waterfall, The famine Village at Doagh, The Five Finger Strand, Malin Head and Grianan of Aileach.

Friday September 11th

09.00hrs Depart the hotel. Our destination is the Convention Hotel, The Fairways Hotel, Dundalk. Enroute we take in the Giants Causeway, Ballintoy Harbour (Game of Thrones- home of the Iron Fleet) before travelling down the North Antrim Coast route.

Overnight and dinner at the Convention.
