Insurance is a very important matter for everybody travelling by motorcycle. We feel therefore, that it is important that you clearly understand matters and set out the relevant information below.
1. Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)
All packages include a basic insurance for which the amount of cover varies from State to State. in addition, we also automatically include SLI as this increases your liability insurance Benefit up to US$3000,000. This insurance protects the renter against claims made by a Third Party for bodily injury and/or property damage sustained as a result of an accident.
2. EVIP Insurance
This policy is applicable to the motorcycle ONLY. It limits the liability of the renter:
- in the event of any and all accidental damage to the motorcycle and its accessories.
- the loss/theft of the vehicle provided the motorcycle was locked with all locks provided by the rental company.
- in the event of mechanical breakdown requiring repair for more than 12 hours, the renter is provide with up to $75/day for a replacement rental + refund of daily rate.
- covers the cost of tire repair/labour, but towing is NOT covered.
- A Security Deposit of $300 will be taken upon collection of the motorcycle
IMPORTANT: A police report is required for all damages or accidents. All damages to rented motorcycle without a police report is considered the Renter’s fault.
3. Personal Travel Insurance
Your travel insurance policy must include repatriation to Ireland of patients by Air Ambulance or other medically approved means of transportation where it is deemed as preferable by the Medical Adviser of the Insurance Underwriters.
Please check closely the terms of cover provided by any travel insurance policy that you are offered or already hold. In our experience, most policies only provide cover for motorcycles up to 125cc which is not sufficient as most motorcycle models in use on the EagleRider tours range between 1200cc and 1800cc.
Celtic Horizon Tours will be happy to assist in obtaining quotations for suitable travel insurance cover should you require our assistance in this matter.

FAQ
How many people are in a group?
We allow a maximum of 15 bikes per group. At rare occasions there can be a few more bikes but if the number exceeds 15 we may add a second tour guide on a motorcycle to the group.
Will there be enough photo stops on a guided tour?
While one just likes to ride and is hardly to be kept off his bike another may want to stop every five minutes to get this very special photo shot. We try to find a good average of stops to accommodate everyone’s needs.
Can I book additional nights before or after the tour through Celtic Horizon Tours?
Yes, we are happy to book additional accommodation before or after the tour for you. Please be aware that once an additional reservation has been made any changes or cancellation will result in a €50 handling fee per occurrence. Reservations for additional nights must be made at time of booking.
What is the weather going to be like?
If you’ve all been good the weather will be too…honestly, we can never be certain; this is one factor on our tours that we still haven’t been able to influence. In general you can say that during mid summer months you have a 90% chance of staying dry and hot weather on any of our tours. It’ll always be a little cool along the west coast and you can always expect some rain along Route 66. Please come prepared, bring your raingear and a variety of clothing to be armed for all weather conditions.
Do I have to wear a helmet?
For your own safety we require you to wear a helmet at all times when you ride a motorcycle.
Do all bikes have a windshield?
The only models that are equipped with a windshield are Electra Glide, Road Glide, Road King and Heritage Softail, and BMW. Especially during mid summer you will face very hot temperatures on your rides. A windshield will not only hold off dust and stones but also keep away direct hot air to your body.

DAY 1 Los Angeles, CA - Arrival 0.0 mi / 0.0 km
Welcome to Los Angeles!
Upon your arrival in Los Angeles please make your way to our tour hotel, where you will get to meet your fellow riders and Tour Leaders. Your guides will outline the entire tour in a formal Orientation Meeting, covering topics like safe group riding practices, weather, time-management, etc.
Be sure to get some rest tonight – the ride of your life is about to begin!
DAY 2 Los Angeles, CA – Palm Springs, CA 190.0 mi / 304.0 km
After picking up our bikes in the morning it’s time to begin the ultimate motorcycle road trip! We first head south and east to ride through the Cleveland National Forest to Lake Elsinore. After lunch, the cool air bathes us as we wind our way up more mountainous roads into the San Bernardino National Forest, skirting the slopes of 10,000-ft. San Jacinto Peak. Our descent into Palm Springs is spectacular, and we will enjoy our first night on the road among the Palm Trees and night life that make up this iconic town. Tonight everyone will get to know one another during the tour’s Welcome Dinner.
DAY 3 Palm Springs, CA – Laughlin, NV 232.0 mi / 371.2 km
Today’s ride begins with a scenic loop through Joshua Tree National Park, an extraordinary place full of bizarre, cactus-like trees and fantastic granite rock formations. Next we head north into the vast and beautiful desolation of the Mojave Desert. Here our trip touches the legendary Route 66 at the iconic Roy’s Motel in Amboy. We will stay on this historic highway for the rest of the day as we cross the state line into Nevada and arrive in Laughlin, along the shores of the Colorado River.
DAY 4 Laughlin, NV – Grand Canyon, AZ 245.0 mi / 392.0 km
We continue our ride on legendary Route 66 into Arizona, stopping first at the mining ghost town of Oatman. After Kingman we’ll get to enjoy one of the longest stretches of the original “Mother Road”. On our way to lunch in Seligman it’s easy to imagine what road trip vacations were like in decades past. Seligman has been instrumental in the preservation of Route 66, and was the inspiration for the town of Radiator Springs in the Pixar movie Cars! We’ll finish the day at the Grand Canyon, truly a wonder of Nature. Be prepared for one of the greatest sights man has ever seen!
DAY 5 Grand Canyon, AZ – Monument Valley (Kayenta), AZ 170.0 mi / 272.0 km
Our morning starts on a high note, literally, with a helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon to get some birds-eye views! Next we’ll cruise along the South Rim for a few more photo opportunities before heading to another natural marvel: the incredible Monument Valley. Thanks to classic Hollywood western movies, these iconic landscapes of red sandstone buttes, mesas, and spires of rock are what many people think of as the “Wild West”. Our Navajo guides will take us deep into the heart of this spiritual wonderland.
DAY 6 Monument Valley (Kayenta), AZ – Bryce Canyon, UT 340.0 mi / 544.0 km
From Kayenta we venture into the state of Utah past, the Valley of the Gods, up the Moki Dugway, and across the Colorado River where it pours into Lake Powell. Created by the Glen Canyon Dam in 1963, Lake Powell has more miles of shoreline than the entire Pacific Coast! Next we ride along the southern tip of Capitol Reef National Park, across aspen-covered peaks, along the buff-colored sandstones of the Devil’s Backbone, through the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, and finally to Bryce Canyon National Park. This is a long riding day, but unforgettable!
DAY 7 Bryce Canyon, UT – Las Vegas, NV 250.0 mi / 400.0 km
If you are an early bird, you are guaranteed a spectacular morning from Sunrise Point in Bryce Canyon. Continuing to Zion National Park we will see some of the most majestic sandstone cliffs and rock formations found anywhere on Earth, all visible from a winding series of switchbacks, the view from each turn better than the last. Similar to the Grand Canyon and the upcoming Yosemite, the awesome power of nature is obvious in Zion’s canyons. From Zion it is only a short ride into the neon and gambling oasis of Las Vegas. Tonight we’ll celebrate this great adventure at our Farewell Dinner and relive all the great memories we’ve shared.
DAY 8 Las Vegas, NV - Departure 0.0 mi / 0.0 km
We hope you enjoyed your EagleRider tour. Be sure to let us know if you would like to spend some extra time in Las Vegas or keep your EagleRider motorcycle a bit longer and we will make the arrangements for you.
